The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Kebbi State, Nigeria, has re-elected Alhaji Usman Bello-Suru as its chairman, along with 38 other executives, for a four-year term. The election, which took place at the State Delegates’ Congress, was described as “transparent, credible, and fair” by the congress chairman, Dr. Mukhtar Lugga.
Delegates from all 21 local government areas of Kebbi State participated in the election, which was observed by officials from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and other party stakeholders. Dr. Lugga commended the delegates for their patience and orderliness throughout the exercise.
In his acceptance speech, Alhaji Bello-Suru expressed gratitude to party members for their confidence in him and pledged to reconcile aggrieved members and strengthen the party’s structures in Kebbi State and nationally. He outlined plans to build a robust grassroots network, saying, “We will follow the roadmap to strengthen the party structures and build a robust grassroots network.”
The re-elected chairman also vowed to work towards reclaiming power in the state, promising to serve the people of Kebbi with honesty and integrity. Aminu Bande, the party’s 2023 governorship candidate, congratulated the newly elected executives and urged them to promote unity within the party.
Other re-elected executives include Hussaini Abdullahi-Raha as deputy chairman and Abubakar Bawa-Kalgo as secretary. The election is seen as a significant development in Kebbi State’s political landscape, as the PDP seeks to revitalize its presence and prepare for future elections.
