The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Barr. Nyesom Wike, has commended residents for their support and peaceful coexistence, pledging to deliver more infrastructure and social development across the territory.

In his 65th Independence anniversary message, Wike noted that the FCT represents Nigeria’s unity and national character, symbolizing the country’s bond of unity. He described the occasion as an opportunity to pay tribute to the nation’s founding fathers who worked tirelessly to establish a strong country.

Wike expressed appreciation for residents’ backing of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, which prioritizes economic growth, security, food security, and infrastructure. He highlighted the FCT Administration’s progress in completing and commissioning strategic roads, schools, hospitals, and supporting farmers, youths, and small businesses.

The minister emphasized the importance of a solid road network in the FCT, stating that it is a key factor in making a city functional. He also commended residents for maintaining peace and unity in the face of challenges, which has made the FCT one of the most peaceful places to reside in the country.

Looking ahead to the February 2026 area council elections, Wike urged residents to conduct campaigns peacefully and orderly. He encouraged residents to turn out in large numbers to elect leaders who genuinely care about their welfare.

Wike expressed optimism about the country’s prospects under President Tinubu’s leadership and assured that the FCT would benefit from ongoing transformative projects. He emphasized the need for collective effort to realize the FCT’s potential and aspirations, despite the challenges facing the country.

The minister’s message reinforced the significance of the FCT as a symbol of national unity and the importance of peaceful coexistence among residents. As the territory continues to develop, the administration’s focus on infrastructure, social development, and security is expected to improve the lives of residents and promote economic growth.
