Dangote Group accused of negligence by Phyna over sisters death

Big Brother Naija reality star Phyna has made allegations against the Dangote Group, claiming negligence and insensitivity in the handling of her sister’s death and burial. Ruth Otabor’s passing was reportedly tragic, and Phyna asserts that the company’s actions have exacerbated the family’s grief.

Phyna took to Instagram to express her concerns, stating that the Dangote Group had publicly announced it would cover medical and burial expenses but failed to fully honor this commitment. According to her, the company only settled charges at Lagoon Hospital in Lagos, leaving the family to bear additional expenses incurred from Auchi to Irrua. She noted that these bills were paid by the family without any refund from the company.

Phyna further alleged that on the day of her sister’s burial, September 13th, attempts to contact the Dangote Group were unsuccessful, despite claims that the burial expenses had been paid. She shared a letter sent to her father by the company, which included an acknowledgment of receipt regarding burial expenses. Phyna accused the company of impersonation, arguing that the family should have been asked to provide such a letter directly.

The reality star questioned the motives behind the company’s actions, suggesting a deliberate effort to control the narrative after the burial. She expressed disappointment that a company of the Dangote Group’s magnitude would resort to such actions instead of treating her family with honesty and respect.

The allegations have sparked concerns about corporate responsibility and sensitivity towards bereaved families. The Dangote Group’s handling of the situation has been called into question, with many awaiting a response from the company. As the situation unfolds, it remains to be seen how the company will address Phyna’s allegations and what measures will be taken to prevent similar incidents in the future.
