Abdul-Azeez Adediran, also known as Jandor, the 2023 governorship candidate for the Peoples Democratic Party in Lagos State, has forecast a decisive victory for President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election. Jandor made this statement during an appearance on Channels Television’s Politics Today, citing Tinubu’s growing national influence as a key factor.
Despite facing strong opposition in the 2023 election, including losing in Lagos State to Peter Obi of the Labour Party, Jandor believes that such upsets will not recur in 2027. He noted that his own movement, Lagos for Lagos, is now back within the party, which will contribute to a different outcome. Jandor’s prediction suggests that Tinubu’s influence has expanded significantly since the last election, paving the way for an easy win not only in Lagos but also across the country.
Tinubu won the highly contested 2023 presidential election, defeating several candidates, including Atiku Abubakar of the PDP and Peter Obi of the Labour Party. However, his loss in Lagos State was seen as a notable setback at the time. Jandor, who came third in the 2023 governorship election in Lagos State, has since rejoined the All Progressives Congress (APC) and declared his intention to contest for the governorship again in 2027.
Jandor’s decision to rejoin the APC was motivated by the party’s focus on winning, regardless of the candidate. He has expressed his readiness to run for the governorship and is prepared to face any opponent, including Seyi Tinubu, the president’s son, in the APC primary. Jandor has stated that he will support whoever the party chooses to run, but he has clearly indicated his own intention to contest for the position.
The upcoming 2027 election is expected to be significant, with several candidates already expressing interest in running for various positions. Jandor’s prediction of a decisive victory for President Tinubu adds to the growing speculation about the outcome of the election. As the political landscape continues to evolve, it remains to be seen how the various parties and candidates will navigate the challenges and opportunities ahead.
