Abdul‑Azeez Adediran, also known as Jandor, the Peoples Democratic Party’s 2023 governorship candidate in Lagos State, predicted a decisive victory for President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election. He made the remark on Channels Television’s *Politics Today*, citing Tinubu’s expanding national influence as a key factor. Although Jandor faced strong opposition in 2023—losing Lagos to Labour Party candidate Peter Obi—he believes such upsets will not recur in 2027. He noted that his own movement, Lagos for Lagos, has re‑entered the party, which he expects will help produce a different outcome.
Tinubu, who won the highly contested 2023 presidential election over candidates including PDP’s Atiku Abubakar and Labour’s Peter Obi, suffered a notable setback by losing Lagos State. Jandor, who placed third in the 2023 Lagos governorship race, has since rejoined the All Progressives Congress (APC) and announced his intention to run for governor again in 2027. His decision to return to the APC was driven by the party’s focus on winning, regardless of the individual candidate. He says he is ready to contest the governorship and will face any opponent, including the president’s son Seyi Tinubu, in the APC primary. While he affirms he will support the party’s eventual nominee, he has clearly signaled his own ambition to run.
The 2027 election is already shaping up as a pivotal contest, with several candidates expressing interest in various positions. Jandor’s forecast of a landslide win for President Tinubu adds to the growing speculation about the race’s outcome. As the political landscape evolves, parties and candidates will have to navigate the emerging challenges and opportunities.
