Mr Eazi reveals presidential ambition

Afrobeats singer and entrepreneur Oluwatosin Ajibade, known professionally as Mr Eazi, has announced his intention to pursue a career in politics, aspiring to become a president in an African country. In a video shared on Snapchat, he expressed his desire to lead a nation, citing his forward‑thinking and youthful approach as key assets. Mr Eazi emphasized that his motivation is to move a country forward rather than to seek power or wealth.

Mr Eazi, who recently married Temi Otedola, the daughter of Nigerian billionaire Femi Otedola, has been considering a presidential run for some time. Although born in Nigeria, he has a strong connection to Ghana, where he studied and launched his music career. His style of music, which he calls “Banku music,” is heavily influenced by Ghanaian culture.

His announcement reflects a growing trend of Nigerian celebrities venturing into politics. Several high‑profile figures have already taken elective or appointive positions, while others have expressed interest in political careers. For example, actress Eniola Badmus recently announced her intention to run for a senatorial seat, and former Senator Ben Bruce has predicted that singer Davido may one day become the governor of Osun State.

Mr Eazi’s entry into the political arena has sparked interest in the potential for young, dynamic leaders to emerge in African politics. As the continent continues to evolve, the involvement of influential figures from the entertainment industry could bring new perspectives and ideas to the table. With his significant following and entrepreneurial background, Mr Eazi’s candidacy promises to be an interesting development to watch in the coming years.
