Dangote Refinery thanks President Tinubu for resolving PENGASSAN dispute

Dangote Petroleum Refinery has expressed gratitude to President Bola Tinubu for his role in resolving the dispute between the refinery and the Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association of Nigeria (PENGASSAN). The refinery also commended the Office of the National Security Adviser, the ministers of labour and employment, and other top government officials for their efforts in resolving the issue.

The dispute, which centered around unionization and the alleged sack of over 800 Nigerian workers, had led to a nationwide strike by PENGASSAN. However, following a reconciliation meeting led by the Minister of Labour and Employment, Mohammed Dingyadi, the industrial action was suspended. The meeting, which was attended by several government officials, including the Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Wale Edun, and the Minister of State for Labour and Employment, Nkiruka Onyejeocha, was held at the office of the National Security Adviser.

Dangote Refinery praised the government officials for their patriotism and national service, stating that their intervention resulted in the abatement of the disruptive actions of PENGASSAN against the refinery. The company also thanked Nigerians for their supportive voices and words of encouragement, assuring them that it would continue to work in their interest and protect it against rent seekers, economic saboteurs, and economic squatters.

The refinery assured Nigerians that it would not relent in serving the nation faithfully and diligently through the uninterrupted production of petroleum products. The company’s commitment to the Nigerian nation and its people remains undiluted, undiminished, and unalterable, despite the distractions from its detractors and saboteurs.

The resolution of the dispute is significant, as it ensures the continued production of petroleum products and avoids any potential disruption to the nation’s economy. The refinery’s appreciation for the government’s intervention highlights the importance of collaboration between the public and private sectors in resolving industrial disputes. With the suspension of the industrial action, Dangote Petroleum Refinery is expected to continue its operations, providing essential petroleum products to the Nigerian market.
