The Osun State College of Health Technology, Ilesa, is set to reclaim a parcel of land currently occupied by the Ministry of Water Resources. This decision was reached by the institution’s Governing Council, which also resolved to upgrade the college from a monotechnic to a polytechnic.
According to a statement by the college’s Public Relations Officer, Kingsley Omoyeni, the Governing Council met recently to discuss key issues affecting the institution. The Chairman of the Governing Council, Abayomi Adegoke, emphasized the importance of developing and transforming the college, which is a top priority for Governor Ademola Adeleke’s administration. Adegoke noted that the governor is committed to upholding the college’s reputation as a leading health training institution in the country.
Adegoke urged all stakeholders to support the ongoing developmental drive, stating that it is their collective responsibility to ensure the growth and improvement of the institution. He emphasized the need to enhance the college’s physical structures and aesthetics, making it comparable to other campuses in the country. The chairman also disclosed that the council has resolved to reclaim the occupied land, which is strategically located and will be of significant economic benefit to the college.
The reclaimed land is expected to boost the college’s Internally Generated Revenue, with various potential uses. Additionally, the council has called for immediate steps to strengthen the security architecture within and around the college, including the appointment of a Chief Security Officer. The Provost of the institution, Dr. Lateef Olarewaju, assured the Governing Council that the management is ready to work diligently towards achieving the objectives set by the board.
The planned upgrade and land reclamation are significant steps towards improving the college’s status and reputation. With the support of Governor Adeleke’s administration, the institution is poised for growth and development, which will ultimately benefit the students, staff, and the community at large. The next steps will involve the implementation of the council’s resolutions, including the commencement of the upgrade process and the reclamation of the occupied land.
