Kano State Governor Abba Yusuf has allocated N4.8 billion for development projects across the state’s 44 local governments. He announced the funding during a meeting with the Forum of Supervisory Councillors and Advisers from all local government areas, emphasizing the importance of effective local governance and ensuring that projects align with the needs of the people.
According to a statement from his spokesperson, Sunusi Dawakin‑Tofa, Governor Yusuf recognized the crucial role of supervisory councillors and advisers in implementing development initiatives and policies. He pledged to engage closely with them to strengthen local governance.
The Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Alhaji Muhammad Zaura, praised the governor’s achievements and predicted his return in 2027. Hajiya Sa’adatu Yusha’u, State Chairperson of the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON), also commended the governor’s leadership and assured continued support for Kano’s betterment. Forum Chairman Hudu Takai explained that the group was established to assist the state government in implementing its policies and programmes.
During the meeting, the forum conferred an Award of Excellence on Governor Yusuf and unveiled a new project called “Abba Keep Moving.” The N4.8 billion allocation demonstrates the governor’s commitment to improving the lives of Kano residents. By working with supervisory councillors and advisers, the administration aims to tailor development projects to the specific needs of each community, thereby enhancing the effectiveness of local governance and promoting sustainable development throughout the state. With the backing of ALGON and other stakeholders, Governor Yusuf’s government is poised to drive positive change in Kano.
