Nigerian Postal Service offers 15% logistics discount to SMEs

World Post Day: NIPOST gives 20,000 Nigerian businesses 15% logistics discount

The Nigerian Postal Service has introduced a 15 percent logistics discount for over 20,000 small and medium enterprises registered with the Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency of Nigeria. Postmaster General Tola Odeyemi announced this initiative on World Post Day, which was themed “Post for People: Local Service, Global Reach.” The discount is part of the agency’s efforts to support local businesses and enhance their operational efficiency.

According to Odeyemi, the Nigerian Postal Service is committed to reshaping the nation’s logistics, digital economy, and service delivery systems. The agency is collaborating with the Ministry of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy and the National Population Commission to implement a National Addressing System with a new digital postcode. This system will facilitate more efficient delivery services and support the growth of e-commerce in Nigeria.

To further empower local businesses, the Nigerian Postal Service has launched an e-commerce platform, known as Digital Market Places. This platform enables small and medium enterprises to sell their products both locally and internationally, with integrated logistics and secure payment options. The platform provides seamless online shipping, order management, and last-mile delivery solutions, making it easier for small businesses and digital merchants to transact and fulfill e-commerce orders.

The introduction of the logistics discount and the e-commerce platform is expected to lower operational costs for small and medium enterprises and expand their market reach. With over 20,000 businesses registered with the Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency of Nigeria set to benefit from the discount, the initiative is likely to have a significant impact on the growth of Nigeria’s digital economy. The Nigerian Postal Service’s efforts to support local businesses and enhance the nation’s logistics and service delivery systems are in line with the Federal Government’s mission to connect Nigerians and promote economic development.
