Troops of Operation HADIN KAI have achieved significant success in their counter‑terrorism efforts in Borno State, Nigeria. On 10 October 2025, they conducted separate fighting patrols in Magumeri and Gajiram, neutralizing nine terrorists and recovering substantial items.
According to the Media Information Officer of the Joint Task Force North East, the operations were based on credible intelligence about the movement of Boko Haram elements in the area. In Magumeri, troops intercepted terrorists who were setting houses ablaze and harassing residents. A four‑hour tactical chase culminated in a fierce firefight that neutralized five terrorists. Recovered items included an AK‑47 rifle, magazines, ammunition, a mobile phone and a dagger.
In a separate operation along the Gajiram–Bolori–Mile 40–Gajiganna axis, troops engaged a Boko Haram faction near Zundur village, neutralizing four terrorists and rescuing two hostages, Mr. Modu Kinnami and Mr. Bukar. The insurgents had abducted the men and demanded a ransom. Items recovered from this operation comprised a pickup vehicle, mobile phones, fuel and cash totaling ₦4,355,000.
Combined, the operations brought the total number of terrorists neutralized to nine and recovered ₦5,105,000, believed to include ransom money. The Media Information Officer reaffirmed that troops remain relentless in maintaining pressure on remnants of Boko Haram and Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) across all operational fronts in the region. Further operations are ongoing to deny terrorists freedom of movement and restore lasting peace to the North East.
This recent success adds to the growing list of battlefield victories recorded by Operation HADIN KAI in recent months, as security forces intensify efforts to dismantle terrorist networks and secure local communities in Borno and neighboring states. The operations demonstrate the Nigerian military’s commitment to combating terrorism and restoring peace, and ongoing pressure on terrorist elements is expected to bring increased stability and security to the region in the coming months.
