The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has announced a scheduled maintenance exercise on its Gombe State transmission substation, which will run from 14 to 24 October 2025. According to TCN spokesperson Ndidi Mbah, the maintenance crew will perform preventive work at the Gombe 132/33 kV Transmission Substation each day from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The primary task is to replace the protection and control panels on the Shongo 33 kV Feeder 8 with new units. To minimize disruption, the load on the Shongo 33 kV feeder will be transferred to the Darazo 33 kV feeder, while the load on the Mallam Sidi feeder will be shifted to the Doma 33 kV feeder. This load‑management strategy ensures that there will be no bulk power interruption to the Jos Electricity Distribution Company during the maintenance period.

The federal government has assured that the exercise will not affect bulk electricity supply to the Jos Electricity Distribution Company. The maintenance is part of TCN’s broader effort to maintain efficient and reliable power transmission. By planning the work to avoid significant impact on power distribution, TCN aims to preserve grid stability.

The Gombe transmission substation is a critical component of Nigeria’s power infrastructure, and regular maintenance is essential to prevent unexpected outages and ensure optimal performance. This scheduled exercise demonstrates TCN’s commitment to proactive maintenance and reliable electricity transmission services. The work is expected to be completed within the ten‑day window, after which normal operations will resume. TCN will continue to monitor the situation and provide updates as necessary to ensure a seamless transition and minimal disruption to the power supply.
