The Lagos Police Command’s Rapid Response Squad (RRS) has recovered a substantial number of stolen items, including 75 mobile phones and five laptops, in the Ikeja area of the state. According to the command’s spokesperson, SP Abimbola Adebisi, the recovery took place on October 5 at approximately 5:30 a.m. near Allen roundabouts in Ikeja.

During a routine patrol, RRS operatives spotted two men carrying large bags, who immediately fled upon noticing the police team. The suspects abandoned the bags, which were later found to contain 32 iPhones of different models, 38 other smartphones from various brands such as Samsung, Redmi, Tecno, and Honor. Additionally, the operatives recovered five laptops, several smart wristwatches, AirPods, a Samsung Tab, a Sorapad, and a number of damaged phones.

Preliminary investigations suggest that the items were stolen properties hastily abandoned by the suspects while fleeing from the police. The RRS Commander, CSP Shola Jejeloye, has urged members of the public who may have lost similar gadgets in Ikeja and its environs to visit the RRS headquarters in Alausa with verifiable proof of ownership for identification and recovery.

The Commissioner of Police, Olohundare Jimoh, commended the RRS operatives for their vigilance and professionalism, reiterating the command’s commitment to intelligence-driven policing, proactive crime prevention, and sustained efforts to ensure the safety and security of residents across the state. The recovery of these stolen items highlights the effectiveness of the Lagos Police Command’s strategies in combating crime and reassuring the public of their safety.

The Lagos Police Command’s efforts to combat crime and protect residents’ property are part of a broader initiative to enhance security in the state. With the recovery of these stolen items, the command is encouraging members of the public to come forward and claim their lost property, promoting a sense of community and cooperation between law enforcement and the public. As the investigation continues, the command remains committed to maintaining a safe and secure environment for all residents.
