The Taraba State chapter of the Labour Party has established a caretaker committee to oversee the party’s affairs, following the expiration of the previous executives’ tenure. The inauguration ceremony took place on Monday at the party’s state secretariat in Jalingo, attended by party leaders, members, and supporters.
Outgoing Chairperson, Dr. Esther Johnson Gulmu, who now serves as Deputy National Vice Chairman, North East, described the transition as a moment of reflection, gratitude, and peaceful transfer of leadership. She reaffirmed the party’s commitment to democratic principles and commended the outgoing executive for their service. Dr. Gulmu also congratulated the newly appointed officials, urging them to work together to consolidate the party’s presence and influence across the state.
The new caretaker chairman, Rev. Simon Zubairu, expressed his appreciation for the confidence placed in the team by the party’s National Secretariat. He pledged to justify the trust and praised Governor Agbu Kefas’ peace initiatives, promising a leadership focused on unity and progress. Other members of the caretaker committee include Augustine Bazin, James Benjamin, Andrew Audu, Deborah Chenny, Lydia Johnson, Emmanuel Peter, Zinox Enoch, Buba Yaro, and Hajiya Fatima Muhammed.
