I'm not leaving - Ortom reaffirms commitment to PDP

Former Benue State Governor Samuel Ortom reiterated his commitment to repositioning the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in the state, aiming to reclaim power in the 2027 general elections. Speaking in Makurdi, the state capital, Ortom hosted members of the PDP G‑14 and other key stakeholders from the 14 local government areas in Zones A and B of the Senatorial Districts.

During the meeting, Ortom reaffirmed his loyalty to the PDP and dismissed speculation about a possible defection, calling the rumors the work of “mischief makers.” He expressed confidence that the party would emerge stronger and more united ahead of the 2027 polls. Ortom urged stakeholders to stay committed to rebuilding the party, noting that, although he will not contest any position, he will fully support PDP candidates at all levels.

The former governor advised aspirants to conduct wide consultations and not be discouraged by ongoing defections to the ruling party. Emphasizing unity and dedication, he said, “I’m not planning to leave PDP. I remain loyal and together with commitment and dedication, we shall reclaim Benue come 2027.”

Ortom’s pledge is significant as the PDP strives to regain power in Benue State. The 2027 elections are expected to be highly contested, and a united front will be crucial to the party’s success. With Ortom’s support, the PDP is likely to gain momentum in its bid to reclaim the state.

The meeting formed part of the PDP’s broader effort to reposition itself, rebuild its structures, and strengthen its base through grassroots engagement and community outreach. Ortom’s leadership and commitment are expected to play a key role in restoring voter trust and support for the PDP in Benue State.
