Shehu Marshal returns to APC as Kebbi leaders celebrate ‘timely homecoming’

The Edo State Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, Jarrett Tenebe, has warned that any commissioner who fails to wear the “Asiwaju cap” as directed by Governor Monday Okpebholo will be suspended from the party. The directive is part of a broader effort to demonstrate loyalty to President Bola Tinubu, with state cabinet members mandated to wear branded outfits.

On October 14, Governor Okpebholo swore in newly cleared commissioners and inaugurated boards and commissions. During the ceremony he instructed members of his cabinet to show their support for the president through their attire. Tenebe said that non‑compliance will be regarded as indiscipline and insubordination, which the party will not tolerate.

The party’s commitment to delivering 3.5 million votes for President Tinubu underpins this decision. As APC members, cabinet officials are expected to demonstrate loyalty to the president, and wearing the “Asiwaju cap” is presented as a visible expression of that loyalty. Those who refuse the cap will be seen as not aligning with the party’s ideals.

The Edo State APC has made clear that the “Asiwaju cap” is a prerequisite for attending State Executive Council meetings, with Tenebe stating, “no Asiwaju cap, no Exco.” This move aims to show unity and support for the president, and the party is taking steps to ensure all members are on board with the initiative. The suspension of commissioners who fail to comply is a significant step, and its impact will become evident in the coming days as the party continues to pursue its goal of delivering votes for President Tinubu.
