Anambra PVC Collection Extended to November 2

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has extended the deadline for the collection of Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) in Anambra State to November 2. This move aims to enable eligible voters to obtain their cards ahead of the upcoming governorship election on November 8.

According to Mrs. Victoria Eta-Messi, Director of Voter Education and Publicity in the state, the decision to extend the collection period was made following appeals from citizens and stakeholders. The initial deadline was set for October 29, but INEC has now granted an additional four days to facilitate the collection process.

The extension applies to registered voters who have not yet collected their PVCs, including those who registered during the recent Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise in the state. The collection of PVCs will take place at designated centers across the 326 Registration Areas (Wards) in Anambra State.

It is essential to note that the collection of PVCs must be done in person, as proxy collection is not permitted. This measure is intended to ensure the integrity of the electoral process and prevent any potential irregularities.

The Anambra State governorship election is scheduled to take place on November 8, and the collection of PVCs is a critical step in enabling eligible voters to participate in the electoral process. With the extended deadline, registered voters now have a brief window of opportunity to obtain their PVCs and exercise their right to vote.

The extension of the PVC collection period demonstrates INEC’s commitment to ensuring that all eligible voters can participate in the upcoming election. As the electoral body continues to work towards a successful and credible election, voters are encouraged to take advantage of the extended deadline to collect their PVCs and play their part in shaping the state’s future.
