Lawmaker Daniel Amos, who represents the Jema’a/Sanga Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, has formally defected from the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC). In a resignation letter addressed to the PDP Ward chairman of Jagindi Ward, Jema’a Local Government Area, Kaduna State, Amos cited the party’s internal divisions and crises as the primary reason for his departure.
Amos thanked the PDP for providing him with a platform to serve and engage in the democratic process, but he argued that the party’s internal problems have impeded collective progress, unity, and purpose. After consulting with his supporters and other stakeholders, he concluded that it was time to join a new party that aligns with his convictions and the aspirations of his constituents for effective representation and development.
Speaking to journalists in Kafanchan, Amos announced that his defection, along with that of many other PDP members from Southern Kaduna, would benefit the area, the state, and the country. He emphasized that the defectors would continue to work with the ruling party to ensure that the Southern Kaduna zone gains from federal and state government initiatives.
The shift of Amos and other PDP members to the APC is significant, as it may reshape the political landscape of Kaduna State and Nigeria. The move is seen as an effort to strengthen the ruling party’s presence in the region and potentially alter the balance of power in the state. As the situation unfolds, it remains to be seen how this development will affect the lives of citizens in Southern Kaduna and beyond. With the APC gaining more support in the region, the party is likely to intensify its efforts to deliver on its promises and improve the lives of its constituents.
