Fayose Urges New PDP Chairman to Unite Party

PDP in dire need of new direction - Fayose tells acting chairman

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has a new Acting National Chairman, Alhaji Mohammed Abdulrahman, following the suspension of Ambassador Umar Iliya Damagum. Former Ekiti State Governor Ayodele Fayose has urged Abdulrahman to prioritize unity and peace within the party. Fayose emphasized that the PDP is in need of a new direction and that the new chairman must act swiftly to provide it.

According to Fayose, Abdulrahman’s immediate task is to unite the party and restore confidence among its members. He also advised the new chairman to address the perceived injustices and irregularities within the party, particularly in states like Ekiti. Fayose cited the need to correct these issues in accordance with the party’s constitution and existing court pronouncements.

The former governor further stressed the importance of a credible National Convention to produce a new National Working Committee. He encouraged Abdulrahman to work with all stakeholders to ensure the convention’s success, which should take place after outstanding congresses are held in states and zones. Additionally, Fayose suggested that congresses done against court judgments should be revisited.

Abdulrahman, who is also the Sadaunan Takushara, has taken over as Acting National Chairman at a critical time for the PDP. The party has been facing internal challenges, and the new chairman’s ability to unite its members and address existing issues will be crucial in determining its future direction.

As the PDP prepares for a National Convention, the role of the new chairman will be closely watched. The party’s ability to hold a credible convention and produce a new National Working Committee will be essential in restoring confidence among its members and preparing for future elections. With the new leadership in place, the PDP is expected to take steps towards addressing its internal challenges and positioning itself for success in the political landscape.
