APC Condemns US Invasion Rumors Over Nigeria Genocide Claims

Rivers APC Defends Strategy Amid Calls for Wike to Join

The Lagos State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has denounced reports suggesting that the United States Department of Defense plans to invade Nigeria due to alleged Christian persecution. The party emphasized that Nigeria’s progress will be driven by internal strength, leadership, and vision, rather than foreign intervention.

The US had previously designated Nigeria as a Country of Particular Concern (CPC) over reports of Christian genocide, prompting the US Department of Defense to declare its readiness to take action. In response, the APC’s Lagos State spokesman, Seye Oladejo, described the notion of a US invasion as “delusional” and “treacherous.” He stated that only those who wish to see Nigeria fail would advocate for foreign military intervention.

Oladejo emphasized that Nigeria will not compromise its sovereignty, saying, “We will not trade our flag for foreign boots. We will not exchange our destiny for pity from outsiders.” He added that the country’s development will be driven by Nigerian courage, leadership, and vision, rather than external forces.

The APC’s statement comes amid heightened tensions between the US and Nigeria over human rights concerns. The US designation of Nigeria as a CPC has sparked debate about the country’s human rights record and the role of international intervention. The Nigerian government has maintained that it is committed to protecting the rights of all citizens, regardless of their religious affiliation.

The APC’s rejection of foreign intervention reflects a broader sentiment among Nigerians, who are proud of their country’s independence and sovereignty. As the country navigates its complex human rights challenges, it is likely that the debate over international intervention will continue. For now, the APC’s statement serves as a reminder that Nigeria’s future will be shaped by its own people, rather than external forces.
