Regina Daniels’ Brother Remanded in Keffi Prison
A Dutse Magistrate has remanded Sammy West, the brother of Nigerian actress Regina Daniels, in Keffi prison. According to reports, Sammy was remanded on Thursday without access to a legal representative. The news was announced by the actress’ eldest brother, Sweezzy1, on his Instagram story.
Sweezzy1 expressed concern over Sammy’s detention, stating that he was not allowed to call his lawyer or see his family since his arrest on Monday. A video shared by Sweezzy1 showed Sammy saying, “They didn’t allow me to call my lawyer. They didn’t allow my family to see me since I was arrested on Monday. Nobody knows where I was taken to.”
Sammy West was arrested in Lagos on Monday by Senator Ned Nwoko, Regina Daniels’ husband, and allegedly flown to Abuja on a private jet. The arrest is reportedly linked to a family dispute between Regina Daniels and Senator Nwoko, who have been embroiled in a messy breakup. Senator Nwoko had accused Regina of substance abuse and claimed she was evading rehabilitation.
Regina Daniels has denied the allegations, stating that her brother’s arrest, along with her sister’s, was an attempt to force her to submit to rehabilitation. The actress’ brother, Sweezzy1, has called on the public to help him find out what Sammy’s offense is, as the magistrate who remanded him has disappeared, and no one is available to sign his bail.
The incident has sparked concerns about the use of power and influence in the Nigerian justice system. The case is ongoing, and it remains to be seen how it will unfold. For now, Sammy West remains in Keffi prison, awaiting further developments in his case. The situation highlights the need for transparency and fairness in the application of the law, regardless of social status or influence.
