Former Kaduna State Governor Malam Nasir El-Rufai has urged residents of Zamfara State to join the African Democratic Congress (ADC) to help address the state’s security and economic challenges. He made this appeal during a gathering of ADC supporters in Gusau, emphasizing the party’s plans to enhance security, boost the economy, and improve food supply in Zamfara.
El-Rufai stressed the importance of unity among party members, warning against sabotage and encouraging collaboration with youth and women’s groups to raise awareness about the party’s activities at the grassroots level. He also advised voters to prepare their Permanent Voter’s Cards (PVCs) ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The visit was seen as a significant boost to the party’s efforts to maintain stability and cooperation among its members in the state, according to Abubakar Atiku, ADC’s Deputy National Organising Secretary. State ADC Chairman Alhaji Kabiru Garba noted that the event drew participants from all 14 local government areas of Zamfara, including youths and women, demonstrating the party’s growing appeal and increasing membership.
The gathering also attracted local politicians, Islamic scholars, and other community stakeholders, underscoring the party’s efforts to engage with diverse groups and build support. As the 2027 elections approach, the ADC is seeking to position itself as a viable alternative to existing parties, with a focus on addressing the pressing issues facing Zamfara State and the country as a whole.
The ADC’s efforts to improve security, economic development, and food supply are particularly relevant in Zamfara, which has faced significant challenges in these areas. By engaging with local communities and promoting its vision for the state’s future, the party hopes to build momentum and attract new supporters. As the political landscape continues to evolve, the ADC’s activities will be closely watched by observers and voters alike, with the party’s success likely to have significant implications for the state and national political landscape.
