Liquefied Petroleum Gas Prices To Drop Further

Cooking gas price increases in Nigeria

The price of liquefied petroleum gas, commonly known as cooking gas, is expected to decrease further in the coming days, according to Olatunbosun Oladapo, the immediate past president of the Nigerian Association of Liquefied Petroleum Gas Marketers. This prediction follows a recent decline in cooking gas prices as supply issues have eased across the country.

In Abuja, retailers are now selling LPG at N1,500 per kilogramme, down from N2,000 just weeks ago. Major suppliers such as NIPCO, AA Rano, and Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited, including Ranoil, are selling LPG between N1,090 and N1,100 per litre, a decrease from the previous price of N1,200.

Oladapo stated that despite the recent price drop, the association still hopes to see the price of gas decrease further. With the festive season approaching, ensuring the availability of the product is a top priority. He noted that the price trend will be closely monitored over the next week or two.

The reduction in cooking gas prices is a welcome development for consumers, who have been facing high energy costs. The Nigerian Association of Liquefied Petroleum Gas Marketers has been working to address supply chain issues and increase the availability of LPG. As the demand for cooking gas continues to rise, the association’s efforts to stabilize prices and ensure a steady supply are crucial.

The decrease in LPG prices can be attributed to the easing of supply glitches, which have been a major challenge in the industry. The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited and other major suppliers have been working to increase production and distribution, leading to a more stable market. As the festive season approaches, the anticipated further decrease in cooking gas prices will provide relief to consumers and help to boost economic activity.

The Nigerian Association of Liquefied Petroleum Gas Marketers will continue to monitor the market and work towards ensuring that LPG prices remain stable and affordable for consumers. With the expected decrease in prices, the association is optimistic that the demand for cooking gas will continue to grow, driving economic growth and development in the country.
