The North-Central APC Forum has renewed its call for Plateau State Governor Caleb Mutfwang to defect from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC). The forum’s chairman, Alhaji Saleh Zazzaga, made the appeal during the group’s third-quarter meeting in Jos, citing recent developments that favor the governor’s potential defection.

According to Zazzaga, the North-Central APC Forum was the first to urge Governor Mutfwang to join the APC, following its analysis and predictions before and after the 2023 elections. The forum claims its efforts have yielded significant results, including the establishment of the North-Central Development Commission and the return of the APC national chairmanship position to the North-Central region.

Zazzaga emphasized that the forum has consistently supported President Bola Tinubu’s policies and has been persuading governors and party chieftains from other parties to join the APC. The chairman noted that Governor Mutfwang’s administration has shown progressive tendencies, and joining the APC would align him with the president’s vision for Plateau State.

By joining the APC, Governor Mutfwang would also be on the same page as his counterparts in the North-Central region, allowing for greater collaboration and development of the region. Additionally, most of the state’s legislators are already members of the APC, which would facilitate a stronger working relationship between the executive and legislative branches.

Zazzaga dismissed concerns from some APC members who oppose Governor Mutfwang’s potential defection, stating that such individuals are acting in their own interests rather than considering the collective good of the party. The chairman urged Governor Mutfwang to heed the call, citing the governor’s own mantra of “The Time is Now” as a reason to join the APC and advance his administration’s goals.
