'Gov. Mutfwang silent as terrorists take over our communities' - Ex-guber candidate cries out

The North‑Central APC Forum has renewed its appeal for Plateau State Governor Caleb Mutfwang to leave the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and join the All Progressives Congress (APC). Chairman Alhaji Saleh Zazzaga made the request during the forum’s third‑quarter meeting in Jos, pointing to recent developments that, in his view, favor the governor’s defection.

Zazzaga noted that the North‑Central APC Forum was the first to urge Governor Mutfwang to switch parties, basing its recommendation on analyses and predictions made before and after the 2023 elections. He claimed the forum’s efforts have already produced tangible results, such as the creation of the North‑Central Development Commission and the restoration of the APC national chairmanship to the North‑Central region.

The chairman emphasized that the forum has consistently backed President Bola Tinubu’s policies and has been working to persuade governors and party leaders from other parties to join the APC. He argued that Governor Mutfwang’s administration has shown progressive tendencies, and that aligning with the APC would bring the governor in line with the president’s vision for Plateau State.

Joining the APC, Zazzaga said, would also place Governor Mutfwang alongside his counterparts in the North‑Central region, fostering greater collaboration and regional development. Moreover, most of the state’s legislators are already APC members, which would strengthen the relationship between the executive and legislative branches.

Addressing concerns from some APC members who oppose the governor’s potential defection, Zazzaga dismissed them as self‑serving and not in the party’s collective interest. He urged Governor Mutfwang to heed the call, citing the governor’s own mantra, “The Time is Now,” as a reason to join the APC and advance his administration’s goals.

The forum’s appeal is seen as a strategic move to bolster the APC’s presence in the region and promote development in Plateau State. As events unfold, it remains to be seen whether Governor Mutfwang will respond to the forum’s invitation and switch parties.
