Nigerian actor Stanley Ontop has called on authorities to arrest his colleague Peggy Ovire over an alleged assault on fellow actor Taye Arimoro. The demand follows the emergence of CCTV footage on social media that appears to contradict Ovire’s earlier denial of the allegations. While Ovire claimed that Arimoro had assaulted her driver, the video shows Ovire and her driver engaged in a physical altercation with Arimoro at a movie location.
According to Ontop, the incident occurred after Arimoro refused to continue filming past midnight, stating that his contract with Ovire had expired. Rather than negotiate, Ovire allegedly attacked him and ordered her driver to do the same, resulting in serious injuries. Ontop condemned the episode on social media, tagging the Nigeria Police Force and urging the Lagos State Police Command to arrest Ovire and investigate the matter promptly. He emphasized that no actor should be subjected to bullying or physical harm.
Arimoro had previously posted a series of videos on his Instagram account, accusing Ovire of assaulting him at the filming site. The incident has sparked concerns about workplace safety and the treatment of actors within the Nigerian film industry. Although the police have not yet commented, the case has ignited a heated debate on social media, with many demanding accountability and justice for Arimoro. The outcome of the investigation and any subsequent actions by the authorities are being closely monitored by both the industry and the public.
