The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has reaffirmed its commitment to holding its National Convention in Ibadan on Saturday, describing it as sacrosanct. This assurance was given by Adamawa State Governor Umar Fintiri, who also serves as the Chairman of the 2025 National Convention Organising Committee (NCOC). Fintiri made this statement while addressing journalists after a stakeholders meeting held in Abuja, which was attended by key party members, including governors, National Working Committee (NWC) members, and Board of Trustees.
The meeting, which took place at the Bauchi State Governor’s Lodge in Asokoro, Abuja, was a crucial gathering where various decisions were made regarding the upcoming convention. Fintiri emphasized that the party is moving forward with its plans to hold the convention in Ibadan, indicating that all necessary preparations are in place. The convention is expected to be a significant event for the PDP, as it will involve the election of new national officers, including the position of national chairman.
Notable stakeholders who attended the meeting included Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed, Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde, PDP National Chairman Umar Damagum, and National Publicity Secretary Debo Ologunagba. Former Senate President Bukola Saraki and former Minister Tanimu Turaki, who is the consensus candidate for the position of national chairman, were also in attendance. Other prominent figures, such as Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan and Chairman of the PDP South-South Caretaker Committee Chief Emmanuel Ogidi, were also present.
