Mo'Hits: Don Jazzy suggested we part ways - D'banj

Nigerian singer D’banj has spoken about the split of his former music group, Mo’Hits, revealing that it was his partner Don Jazzy who initiated the separation. The breakup was announced by Don Jazzy in 2012, citing disagreements between the two musicians. In a recent interview on the Mic On podcast, D’banj said he holds no grudges against Don Jazzy and emphasized that the idea to part ways came from his former partner. He claimed Don Jazzy was “100 per cent” responsible for the split, which ended their successful collaboration.

Reflecting on their time together, D’banj noted that Don Jazzy had given him full ownership of his music catalogue, including unreleased songs. He acknowledged that the split was a significant turning point in his career but expressed no regrets about the decision. The singer highlighted the success of their final collaboration, “Oliver Twist,” which achieved global recognition.

Although D’banj has moved on to pursue a successful solo career, he admitted he misses the opportunity to work with Don Jazzy. He views their split as a predestined event that ultimately contributed to his growth as an artist. The Mo’Hits breakup marked a major change in the Nigerian music landscape, as the group had been a dominant force in the industry. The separation led to new collaborations and solo projects, reshaping the country’s music scene. D’banj’s reflections provide a unique perspective on the events that ended Mo’Hits, offering insight into the dynamics of the music industry.
