The African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Abia State has issued a warning to Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe, accusing him of interfering in the party’s affairs. According to the ADC, Senator Abaribe, who is not a member of the party, has been convening unauthorized meetings and sponsoring a parallel executive committee in opposition to the party’s leadership in the state.
The party’s Publicity Secretary, Chiamaka Ohaka, stated that Senator Abaribe’s actions are undermining the party’s leadership and warned him to desist from such actions or face legal consequences. The ADC has given Senator Abaribe 48 hours to remove all affiliated agents and individuals posing as party members in the state.
The ADC emphasized that Senator Abaribe is not a member of the party, having never obtained a membership form, attended any meetings, or contributed financially to the party’s growth. Despite this, he has allegedly established fake parallel executives, influenced party officers, and spread false information to create discontent and dismantle the party’s legitimate structure in Abia State.
The party’s warning to Senator Abaribe is a significant development in the ongoing power struggle within the ADC in Abia State. The ADC has stressed that it will not tolerate any external interference in its affairs and will take legal action if necessary to protect its interests.
Senator Abaribe’s media aide, Uche Awom, has stated that his principal will not respond to the allegations. The ADC’s leadership has reaffirmed its commitment to upholding the party’s constitution and ensuring that its affairs are conducted in a transparent and democratic manner.
The situation is being closely watched by political observers in Abia State, who are awaiting Senator Abaribe’s response to the ADC’s warning. The outcome of this development could have significant implications for the party’s future and its relationships with other political stakeholders in the state. The ADC has reiterated its determination to protect its integrity and maintain its independence, and it remains to be seen how the situation will unfold in the coming days.
