The Actors Guild of Nigeria’s National President, Emaka Rollas, has addressed the allegations surrounding Regina Daniels’ alleged substance abuse. In a statement posted on his Instagram page, Rollas clarified the guild’s position, noting that “many allegations, misconceptions, and unnecessary accusations” have been circulating. As head of the AGN, he said he felt compelled to speak out for himself, the guild, and the public, providing a clear and responsible account of the situation.
Rollas revealed that Senator Ned Nwoko, Regina Daniels, and her mother, Rita Daniels, are all affiliated with the AGN, with Nwoko serving as Chairman of the Board of Patrons. He expressed concern that certain veteran actors who have witnessed Daniels’ alleged substance abuse firsthand have remained silent. Specifically, he named Jide Kosoko, Sanni Danji, Okey Bakassi, Charles Inojie, and Chinyere Wilfred as individuals who were present on set during a recent production and are aware of the situation. Rollas questioned their silence, stating that it is unfair and leaves him exposed to criticism for issues he did not create.
The AGN president also shared a personal anecdote, recalling a conversation with Senator Nwoko, who had requested that Regina Daniels not travel through Lagos during a planned round‑table meeting in South Africa. Rollas emphasized that this fact has been distorted and repeatedly used against him.
The incident highlights the need for support and resources within the Nigerian entertainment industry to address substance abuse and other personal struggles. As the situation continues to unfold, the AGN’s response will be closely watched, and the guild’s efforts to provide guidance and assistance to its members will be crucial in addressing the issue. With the AGN’s leadership speaking out, it remains to be seen how the situation will be resolved and what steps will be taken to support those affected.
