774 NNPP Members Defect to APC in Kano State

Jigawa: NNPP, APC conduct primaries for by-election in Garki/Babura

A significant defection has occurred in Kano State, Nigeria, with at least 774 members of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) joining the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Rimin Gado Local Government Area. The defectors were received into the APC by Rabiu Bichi, Managing Director of the Hadejia-Jam’are River Basin Development Authority, on Friday.

Bichi welcomed the new members, stating that the APC is the only party capable of driving meaningful development in Nigeria. He cited various projects initiated by President Bola Tinubu in the northern region as evidence of the APC-led administration’s commitment to development. Specifically, he mentioned that over 18 major projects worth billions of naira have been completed in Kano State alone.

Bichi also noted that some state governments have diverted funds meant for development to other sectors, but assured the defectors that the APC’s “Renewed Hope Agenda” is yielding positive results, including economic recovery and improved food security through agricultural programs. He promised that the new members would be fully integrated into the party and treated as long-standing members.

The leader of the defectors, Mohammad Karofin-Yashi, explained that they joined the APC due to the party’s laudable development initiatives. He expressed confidence that the APC would take Kano and the nation to greater heights and pledged to secure the support of more NNPP members who would soon defect to the APC.

This mass defection is a significant development in Nigeria’s political landscape, particularly in Kano State, which is a key stronghold of the APC. The move is expected to bolster the party’s support base in the region and potentially impact the outcome of future elections. As Nigeria continues to navigate its political and economic challenges, the APC’s ability to attract new members and deliver on its development promises will be closely watched by citizens and observers alike.
