Nigeria Killings Government Aware Of Perpetrators Cardinal Onaiyekan

Nigeria’s Archbishop Emeritus, John Cardinal Onaiyekan, has stated that the government is aware of the perpetrators behind the recent wave of killings and abductions in the country. In an interview on Arise Television, Cardinal Onaiyekan emphasized that the government’s defensive approach to the issue, which involves denying or downplaying allegations of mass killings, is not effective.

The cleric’s comments come amidst a surge in violent attacks and kidnappings in various parts of Nigeria, leaving many citizens living in fear. According to Cardinal Onaiyekan, the government’s denial of the severity of the situation fails to acknowledge the sentiments of millions of Nigerians who are affected by the violence.

Cardinal Onaiyekan urged the Federal Government to shift its focus from election preparations in 2027 to ensuring the safety and survival of its citizens. He stressed that the government’s awareness of those responsible for the killings should prompt immediate action to address the issue.

The Archbishop Emeritus of Abuja Catholic Archdiocese emphasized that the fact that Nigerians are being killed is undeniable, and the government’s response should reflect a commitment to protecting its citizens. By acknowledging the reality of the situation and taking concrete steps to address it, the government can work towards restoring peace and security in the country.

The recent surge in violence has raised concerns about the government’s ability to maintain law and order, and Cardinal Onaiyekan’s comments highlight the need for a more proactive approach to addressing the issue. As the situation continues to unfold, it remains to be seen how the government will respond to the cleric’s call to action and work towards ensuring the safety and security of its citizens.
