The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has reaffirmed its commitment to taking power and reforming Cross River State and Nigeria as a whole. This was stated by the party’s leaders, Effiong Nyong and Peter Edeh, during the party’s formal launch in Calabar. Nyong, who leads the party in the state, expressed concern over the country’s current state, citing insecurity as a major issue that has tarnished the reputation of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
According to Nyong, the APC has failed to ensure the security of Nigerians, resulting in daily nightmares characterized by killings, kidnappings, and attacks on homes, churches, and schools. He emphasized that the primary responsibility of any government is to protect its citizens, which the APC has grossly neglected. Nyong called for a reset of the country’s governance, particularly in Cross River State, to address the prevailing insecurity and ungoverned spaces.
Dr. Peter Edeh, representing the national vice chairman, echoed Nyong’s sentiments, stating that the ADC has become a formidable force to rescue and reform the country. The party has established a strong presence across the nation, with a coalition of politicians from various backgrounds. Edeh attributed the country’s lost peace and glory to the need for the ADC to intervene and reset the nation. The party’s fusion of different politicians has enhanced its strength and capacity to bring about positive change.
The ADC leaders’ statements come at a time when Nigeria is grappling with numerous challenges, including insecurity, economic instability, and social unrest. The party’s commitment to reform and governance is seen as a response to the growing demand for effective leadership and solutions to the country’s problems. As the ADC continues to expand its presence and structure across the nation, it remains to be seen how the party will translate its vision into tangible actions and policies to address Nigeria’s pressing issues.
