Hamas accuses Israel of ‘fabricating’ ceasefire end claims — RT World News

Hamas has denied reports that it informed the United States the truce with Israel is over, with a member of the movement’s political bureau accusing Israel of fabricating the claims. The denial follows media reports suggesting Hamas told U.S. envoys the cease‑fire agreement in Gaza had ended because of repeated Israeli violations. The agreement, signed in Sharm el‑Sheikh, was intended to halt hostilities after months of intense fighting. Under the deal, Israel must withdraw from parts of the enclave, and Hamas is to release 20 Israeli hostages in exchange for 2,000 Palestinian prisoners.

Tensions remain high. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced that Israel had carried out strikes in Gaza, killing five Hamas officials, and claimed the attacks were a response to a Hamas breach of the truce—a charge the group has denied. Hamas has called on mediators and the U.S. administration to intervene and ensure Israel abides by the agreement’s terms.

The denial comes amid ongoing violence, with local officials reporting at least 342 Palestinians killed in Israeli strikes since the cease‑fire took effect. The conflict, which began in October 2023 when Hamas launched a surprise attack on Israel that killed 1,200 people and took 250 hostages, has since resulted in more than 69,500 Palestinian deaths, according to Gaza health authorities. Both sides continue to accuse each other of violating the cease‑fire, and the international community, including the United States and other mediators, is closely monitoring the situation. The next steps will be crucial in shaping the future of the conflict and the prospects for a lasting peace in the region.
