The Umaru Musa Yar’adua University, located in Katsina, Nigeria, has announced the promotion of 19 academic staff to the rank of professors. This development follows the 56th meeting of the university’s governing council, which took place on November 27. The council approved the promotion of a total of 113 academic staff, effective October 1.
The promotions include 19 staff members who have been elevated to the rank of professors, 20 to readers, 31 to senior lecturers, 17 to lecturer I, and 26 to lecturer II. Additionally, 36 staff members have been converted to various cadres and upgraded to higher ranks. The governing council also welcomed the newly appointed Pro-Chancellor of the university, Senator Hadi Abubakar-Sirika.
During the meeting, the council also approved a 100% upward review of the wages of the university’s cleaners. This move is seen as a significant step towards improving the welfare of the university’s support staff.
