Plateau PDP Members Urge Governor to Join APC

'No Plateau LGA under bandits' control' - Gov Mutfwang

A group of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) members from Plateau State’s 17 local government areas gathered in Jos on Monday, urging Governor Caleb Mutfwang to defect to the All Progressives Congress (APC). The rally, held at the State Secretariat Junction, was attended by some PDP leaders, including Dung Tari, a former chairman of the party in Jos South Local Government Area.

According to Christopher Danjem, the leader of the group, the call for the governor’s defection is in the best interest of the people of Plateau State. Danjem stated that the group’s decision was based on an analysis of the situation in the state and the country. He praised Governor Mutfwang’s performance and governance style, noting that aligning with the federal government would attract more development projects to the state.

The group also cited the recent visit of Senator Remi Tinubu, the wife of President Bola Tinubu, to Plateau State as a gesture of goodwill towards the people. They believe that the governor’s defection to the APC would strengthen the state’s relationship with the federal government and bring more benefits to the people.

The move is seen as a strategic one, as the APC is the ruling party at the federal level. By joining the APC, Governor Mutfwang may be able to secure more federal funding and support for development projects in Plateau State. The governor’s current party, the PDP, is the main opposition party in Nigeria.

The call for the governor’s defection comes at a time when the state is recovering from recent attacks. The group believes that the governor’s move to the APC would demonstrate his commitment to working with the federal government to bring peace and development to the state.

The development is likely to have significant implications for the political landscape of Plateau State and Nigeria as a whole. As the situation unfolds, it remains to be seen how Governor Mutfwang will respond to the call to defect to the APC. The move could potentially alter the balance of power in the state and impact the governor’s ability to deliver on his campaign promises.
