The Super Eagles, Nigeria’s national football team, has unveiled its final squad for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations. Coach Eric Chelle has selected 28 players from an initial 50-man squad, ahead of the tournament. The most notable omission is captain William Troost-Ekong, who recently announced his retirement from international football.
The squad includes vice-captains Wilfred Ndidi and Victor Osimhen, who will be expected to play key roles in the team’s campaign. The deadline for submitting final squads was December 10, and the Super Eagles have met this requirement.
The team’s goalkeeping department will be led by Stanley Nwabali, Amas Obasogie, and Francis Uzoho, who play for Chippa United, Singida Blackstars, and Omonia FC, respectively. The defense will feature Calvin Bassey, Semi Ajayi, and Bright Osayi-Samuel, among others, who have experience playing in top European leagues.
In midfield, the Super Eagles will rely on the likes of Alex Iwobi, Frank Onyeka, and Wilfred Ndidi, who have been impressive in their respective clubs. The forward line will be led by Victor Osimhen, Ademola Lookman, and Samuel Chukwueze, who have a proven track record of scoring goals.
