A former National Publicity Secretary of the defunct New Peoples Democratic Party, Chief Eze Chukwuemeka Eze, has stated that the recent developments in the political landscape of Nigeria have paved the way for the African Democratic Congress (ADC) to potentially ascend to power in 2027. This comes after Atiku Abubakar’s formal move to the ADC, which Eze believes will galvanize massive support from Nigerians to oust President Bola Tinubu and the All Progressives Congress (APC) from office through the ballot.
According to Eze, a chieftain of the APC, the current administration has made Nigeria a subject of ridicule in the international community, and the time has come for Nigerians to seek relief. He expressed confidence that Atiku will bring his vast experience, leadership acumen, and political sagacity to the ADC, thereby bolstering the party’s chances in the 2027 elections. The recent joining of forces with Rotimi Amaechi, a two-time Campaign Director General of the Muhammad Buhari Campaign Organization, is also seen as a significant boost to the party’s prospects.
Eze attributed the potential rise of the ADC to the perceived failures of the current administration, particularly in addressing poverty and security challenges. He stated that President Tinubu’s unpreparedness to tackle these issues head-on has created an opportunity for the ADC to capitalize on the growing discontent among Nigerians. Although Eze has not yet joined the ADC, he assured that he will soon join other like-minded individuals in their quest to rescue the country from the current state of governance.
The former publicity secretary appealed to key political figures, including Peter Obi, David Mark, and Nasir El-Rufai, to unite in their efforts to reclaim and rebuild Nigeria. He specifically cautioned Obi against abandoning the ADC to contest the 2027 presidential election under a different party, warning that such a move would pave the way for President Tinubu to continue his administration beyond 2027. Eze commended the unity of purpose displayed by Adamawa State politicians, including former Governor Jibrilla Bindow and Senators Aisha Binani, Abdullazeez Nyako, and Ishaku Abbo, who have all joined the ADC.
As the political landscape continues to evolve, the ADC’s prospects in the 2027 elections will likely be shaped by the party’s ability to capitalize on the growing discontent with the current administration. With Atiku’s move to the ADC and the potential for a united opposition front, the stage is set for a significant shift in Nigeria’s political landscape. The next steps will be crucial in determining the outcome of the 2027 elections and the future of the country’s governance.
