The Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB) has praised Marconi NG EPC Limited, an oil‑and‑gas servicing firm, for its commitment to Nigeria’s local‑content policy. Marconi, a wholly Nigerian entity, pledged to deliver projects cost‑competitively and on schedule during an NCDMB‑led tour of its Port Harcourt facility, which showcased the company’s capabilities and assets.
The Marconi complex spans more than 1,000,000 square metres and includes a 330‑metre jetty with the capacity to fabricate over 25,000 tonnes of heavy structures annually. Chief Executive Officer Gian Fabio Del Cioppo emphasized that the company possesses the equipment, technical expertise, and human resources needed to produce high‑quality work at competitive prices and within deadlines. He called on the government and industry stakeholders to continue enforcing the Nigerian Oil and Gas Industry Content Development Act of 2010, which has driven substantial progress in local‑content development over the past 15 years.
Dr. Obinna Ezeobi, NCDMB’s General Manager of Corporate Communications, explained that the tour formed part of the board’s effort to promote Nigerian content and strengthen relationships with stakeholders, including the media. He noted that the NCDMB has built sustainable media partnerships nationwide and holds annual engagements to deepen understanding of the oil‑and‑gas sector.
Marconi’s dedication to local content aligns with the Presidential Directives on Local Content and the provisions of the NOGICD Act. The company’s facility has contributed to the execution and construction of several major projects, such as Egina, Usan, Akpo and Train 7. With its extensive capabilities, Marconi is well‑positioned to support national goals, create jobs and stimulate economic growth.
The NCDMB’s visit to Marconi’s facility underscores the advances made in local‑content development within Nigeria’s oil and gas industry. As the sector evolves, the continued implementation of the NOGICD Act remains vital for driving economic growth, generating employment and promoting Nigerian content. The board’s ongoing efforts to engage stakeholders, especially the media, are essential to achieving these objectives.
