The Lagos State Government has appointed Dr. Sulaimon Ogunmuyiwa as the new Director-General of the Office of Education Quality Assurance (OEQA), effective immediately. This development was confirmed through a statement on the state government’s official social media handle on Friday.
According to the statement, Ogunmuyiwa received his appointment letter on Thursday at the Office of the Head of Service in Alausa, Ikeja, presented by the Lagos State Head of Service, Mr. Bode Agoro. With over 25 years of experience in education administration, Ogunmuyiwa brings a wealth of expertise in school evaluation, planning, and quality assurance processes to his new role.
Ogunmuyiwa holds a PhD in Educational Administration and Planning from the University of Abuja, as well as master’s degrees in Educational Administration and Guidance and Counselling, and a bachelor’s degree in Education from the University of Lagos. Throughout his career, he has served in various capacities within OEQA, including Head of Planning, Head of Education Quality Assurance Services, and Director of Private Education and Special Programmes.
In these roles, Ogunmuyiwa has supervised accreditation processes, quality monitoring across schools, and system-improvement initiatives. A multi-award-winning public officer, he was repeatedly honored as OEQA’s Best Staff between 2012 and 2022. Ogunmuyiwa is also an active member of multiple professional bodies and has contributed significantly to teacher development, school improvement frameworks, and community-focused educational programs.
Mr. Agoro expressed confidence in Ogunmuyiwa’s capacity to elevate education standards in the state, urging him to continue working tirelessly to ensure that the education system in Lagos remains a model for others to emulate.
