FCT Doctors Commend Minister Wike Over Demands Implementation

The Association of Resident Doctors in the Federal Capital Territory Administration has expressed appreciation for the Minister of FCT, Nyesom Wike, for implementing some of the union’s demands. This development comes after the association had embarked on several strike actions to press for improved welfare and working conditions.

According to the President of ARD-FCTA, Dr. George Ebong, the minister’s efforts to address the doctors’ concerns are commendable, despite the numerous challenges facing healthcare professionals in the FCT. Dr. Ebong made this statement during an outreach program at the Durumi Area 1 Internally Displaced Persons Camp, where the association provided free healthcare services and medical supplies to those in need.

The ARD-FCTA president emphasized the association’s commitment to delivering quality healthcare services, particularly to vulnerable populations such as internally displaced persons. “Our primary duty as doctors is to save lives, and we will continue to provide free healthcare services to those who need it most,” he said. The outreach program is part of the association’s efforts to make a positive impact on the community and alleviate the suffering of IDPs.

While acknowledging the progress made, Dr. Ebong urged the FCTA to expedite the implementation of outstanding issues, including improved welfare packages for doctors. The association had recently suspended its latest strike action, pending the full implementation of its demands. The FCT doctors had gone on strike several times to push for better working conditions, improved welfare, and other benefits.

The implementation of the union’s demands is a significant development, as it is expected to improve the working conditions and morale of doctors in the FCT. This, in turn, could lead to better healthcare outcomes for patients and improved overall healthcare services in the territory. The ARD-FCTA’s appreciation for the minister’s efforts is a positive step towards resolving the lingering issues and strengthening the partnership between the association and the FCTA. As the association awaits the implementation of the outstanding demands, it remains committed to providing quality healthcare services to the community, particularly to those in need.
