Kano Village Invasion Condemned by Deputy Senate President

The Deputy President of the Senate, Barau I. Jibrin, has strongly condemned the recent invasion of Zurin Mahauta village in Lakwaya town, Gwarzo Local Government Area of Kano State. The attack, which occurred on Sunday night, was carried out by armed criminals and has been described as unacceptable.

According to Senator Jibrin, the attackers are believed to have come from outside Kano State, with his constituents reporting that the criminal elements stormed the village. The lawmaker expressed concern that the attack came after weeks of relative peace in the area, stressing that such incidents must not be allowed to continue.

In a statement, Senator Jibrin praised the security agencies for their swift response to the attack, which resulted in the rescue of three out of the five persons kidnapped. He cited a media report quoting Captain Babatunde Zubairu, an Assistant Director of Army Public Relations, 3 Brigade, Nigerian Army, as confirming the rescue effort.

The senator urged the security agencies to continue their efforts to rescue the remaining victims and to strengthen surveillance and protection in the affected communities. He reaffirmed his commitment to public safety, stating that the security of people’s lives and properties is paramount.

The attack on Zurin Mahauta village is a significant concern, given the relative peace that had been experienced in the area in recent weeks. Senator Jibrin’s call for swift action against those responsible and his appeal for increased security measures highlight the need for continued vigilance in tackling criminal elements.

The incident serves as a reminder of the importance of collaboration between security agencies and local communities in preventing and responding to such attacks. As the security agencies continue their efforts to rescue the remaining victims, it is essential that they receive the necessary support and resources to effectively address the security challenges in the region.

The Kano State government and security agencies must work together to ensure that the area is secure and that the perpetrators of the attack are brought to justice. The safety and well-being of the people of Kano State, particularly those in the affected communities, must be the top priority.
