Nigerian Army Repels Terrorist Drone Attack in Borno, Sustains Offensives Against Insurgents

The Nigerian Army has successfully repelled a terrorist drone attack on its position at the Forward Operating Base in Molai, Borno State. According to a credible source at Army Headquarters, the incident occurred on December 16, when terrorists deployed four armed drones with explosives. However, the troops were able to neutralize the drones, preventing any damage or casualties.

The source revealed that an investigation is ongoing to trace the launch point of the drones and identify the perpetrators. Meanwhile, troops operating under Operation Hadin Kai are sustaining offensive operations across sectors 2, 3, and 4, as part of the ongoing Desert Sanity IV operation.

In a related development, troops conducting Operation Safe Haven raided criminal hideouts and an illegal mining site in Plateau State, arresting three suspects and recovering a fabricated rifle, ammunition, and other items. The suspects and recovered items are currently in custody for further action.

Additionally, troops from Operation Whirl Stroke rescued a kidnapped victim in Benue State, who had been abducted from his shop in Nasarawa State on December 14. The victim was abandoned by his kidnappers upon sighting the troops.

The Nigerian Army has reaffirmed its commitment to sustaining offensives against terrorists, bandits, and other criminal elements across various theatres of operation. The army’s efforts are aimed at ensuring the safety and security of citizens, as well as protecting the country’s territorial integrity.

The use of drones by terrorists in Nigeria is a relatively new tactic, and the army’s ability to repel the attack demonstrates its preparedness and capacity to respond to emerging threats. The ongoing operations in the north-east and other parts of the country are crucial in the fight against insurgency and insecurity, and the army’s successes in these operations are a testament to its dedication and professionalism. As the army continues to sustain its offensives, it is likely that the security situation in the country will continue to improve, bringing relief to affected communities and reinforcing the government’s commitment to protecting its citizens.
