ADC Suspends Key Members Over Anti-Party Activities

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has suspended several key members, including Chief Ralph Okey Nwosu and Balarabe Rufai, over alleged anti-party activities. The decision was made by the party’s National Working Committee (NWC), led by Chairman Nafiu Bala Gombe, during a regular meeting on Thursday. According to a statement signed by Gombe, the suspended members have been engaging in collaborations and activities that caused disaffection among party members and disrupted the peaceful conduct of party business.

The NWC accused the suspended members of violating Article 15(a) of the party constitution, leading to their six-month suspension. The list of suspended members also includes Alhaji Ibrahim Mani, Dr. Bamidele Ganiyu Ajadi, and several others. The party has warned that unauthorized congresses being organized by certain individuals are null and void, and members are directed to ignore their proceedings and outcomes.

In addition to the suspensions, the NWC approved several new appointments, including Hon. Leke Joseph Abejide as Chairman of the Board of Patron, and Hon. Bala Sani as Chief of Staff to the National Chairman. Other appointees include Abimiku Monday as Special Adviser on Strategic Communication, Muhammad Sa’ad Aboki as Director of Youth Mobilization, and Bello Shehu as Director of Finance. The new appointees are expected to assume their duties immediately.

The party has also constituted a four-member committee to conduct the Osun State Gubernatorial Primary Election, chaired by Dr. Rufus Ikanmi. The NWC has directed members and the general public to ignore unauthorized gatherings, stating that the National Executive Committee (NEC) will soon convene to set an official timetable for legitimate party congresses. All official announcements regarding party congresses will be made through the ADC’s authorized communication channels. The suspensions and new appointments are expected to have significant implications for the party’s unity and stability, and the ADC has urged its members to remain committed to the party’s principles and goals.
