Nigeria’s Minister of Defence, General Christopher Gwabin Musa (retd), emphasized that overcoming insecurity requires a collective effort. Speaking at the 2025 At Yap buffet held in his honour, he urged Nigerians to work together like a family to eliminate evil forces and promote justice, which he sees as essential for progress and development in every community.
General Musa acknowledged the challenges faced by communities in Kaduna State, particularly in the north‑west region, and underscored the urgency of addressing these issues so that Nigerians can live and work without fear. He admitted that past mistakes have been made but assured that the government is now determined to make peace and protect the interests of all citizens. He also warned that the enemies of the state remain active and will not rest until they are fully dealt with.
Expressing gratitude, the minister thanked traditional rulers, religious leaders, and the people for their resilience in standing against evil in society. He encouraged Nigerians to learn to forgive one another for the sake of national progress.
Governor Uba Sani of Kaduna State, represented by Deputy Governor Hadiza Balarebe, praised General Musa’s hard work and discipline, which have enabled him to rise to his current position. The governor expressed confidence in the minister’s ability to succeed in his assignment and prayed for God’s wisdom to guide him.
The paramount ruler of At Yap Chiefdom, Sir Dominic Yahaya, called for peaceful coexistence in the area and across the country, urging Nigerians to be “brother’s keepers” in all aspects of life. As Nigeria continues to grapple with insecurity, General Musa’s remarks highlight the importance of cooperation and justice in promoting national stability and development. The government’s efforts to address the root causes of insecurity and promote peace will be crucial for ensuring a better future for all Nigerians.
