Ahead of the 2027 general elections, stakeholders of the All Democratic Congress (ADC) have called for the zoning of the House of Representatives ticket for Ado, Okpokwu, and Ogbadibo Federal Constituency to Okpokwu Local Government Area. This decision was made during a stakeholders’ meeting attended by ward chairmen, the party secretary, and women and youth leaders in Eke, Edumoga district.
The stakeholders emphasized that the three local government areas have collectively completed eight years in the position, and for equity, the ticket should now return to Okpokwu. They argued that the principle of equity demands that Okpokwu produces the next representative for the federal constituency, ensuring fairness and balance. This call is seen as a demand for justice for all three local government areas, Ado, Okpokwu, and Ogbadibo.
Respecting this arrangement is expected to strengthen unity within the constituency, foster mutual trust among the people, and uphold democratic principles. Hon. Christian Abba, an elder from Edumoga, stated that this is not just a demand from Okpokwu, but a call for justice for all three local government areas. Mr. Michael Ogwuche, Chairman of the ADC Ward Chairmen Forum, urged other aspirants from outside Okpokwu to step down, allowing the zoning arrangement to stand.
The stakeholders warned that ignoring this principle could create divisions, weaken the party’s collective strength, and undermine the confidence of supporters across the constituency. By honoring the rotation and ensuring that Okpokwu produces the next representative, the ADC is upholding fairness, internal democracy, and the principles of justice expected by the people.
The meeting, which was well-attended, underscores strong support for Okpokwu producing the next House of Representatives member. This sends a clear message to aspirants and party leaders ahead of the 2027 polls. The call for zoning is seen as a significant step towards promoting internal democracy and fairness within the ADC.
The ADC’s commitment to internal democracy and inclusiveness is expected to strengthen the party’s chances in the 2027 elections. As the party prepares for the upcoming polls, the decision to zone the House of Representatives ticket to Okpokwu Local Government Area is likely to have a significant impact on the election outcome. With the stakeholders’ call for zoning, the ADC is taking a crucial step towards ensuring fairness, equity, and justice in the electoral process.
