Adamawa cancels crossover concert over security concerns

The Adamawa State Government has cancelled a planned crossover concert in the capital city, Yola, citing security concerns. The event, which was scheduled to take place on December 31, 2025, and last into the early hours of January 1, 2026, had been elaborately planned and was expected to feature performances by famous musicians.

According to a notice released by Governor Ahmadu Fintiri’s Chief Press Secretary, Humwashi Wonosikou, on Tuesday, the cancellation is based on credible intelligence reports that suggest a potential security threat. The notice stated that the government has cancelled all activities planned for the Cross Over Night at the Unity Fly-Over in Jimeta-Yola.

The government has assured citizens that their safety and security remain a top priority and that it will continue to work with security agencies to ensure peace and stability in the state. In light of the cancellation, the government has advised citizens, particularly residents of Yola North and South Local Government Areas, to remain vigilant and avoid crowded areas to minimize potential risks. Citizens are also urged to report any suspicious activities to the authorities.

The cancellation of the concert is a precautionary measure to prevent any potential security breaches. The Adamawa State Government has a responsibility to protect its citizens, and this decision reflects its commitment to prioritizing their safety. By working with security agencies, the government aims to maintain peace and stability in the state.

The cancellation of the crossover concert may disappoint residents and visitors who were looking forward to the event. However, the government’s decision is a necessary measure to ensure the well-being of citizens. As the state prepares to usher in the new year, the government’s focus on security and safety is a reassuring step towards maintaining a stable and secure environment for all.
