Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke has expressed confidence in his re-election bid, citing divine support and the backing of the people. At a New Year interfaith prayer session held at the State Secretariat, the governor stated that his administration has overcome numerous challenges over the past three years and is poised to surmount the hurdles ahead of the forthcoming election.
The governor’s administration has been marked by faith and resilience, with Adeleke attributing his government’s successes to divine intervention. He described his administration as a testament to “divine grace,” noting that it has prevailed over obstacles that once seemed insurmountable. Adeleke highlighted his government’s achievements, including the implementation of people-centered policies and the delivery of tangible results across key sectors of the state’s economy.
Since taking office, the governor has prioritized programs that directly impact the lives of Osun residents, including interventions for senior citizens, support for the poor and vulnerable, and rehabilitation of roads and bridges. His administration has also made efforts to address challenges in education and healthcare, and is gradually resolving inherited salary and pension arrears despite initial skepticism from political opponents.
The Chairman of the Nigeria Labour Congress in Osun State, Comrade Christopher Arapasopo, reaffirmed labor’s commitment to supporting the governor’s re-election, stating that workers would vote en masse for Adeleke in the August 8, 2026, governorship election. Religious leaders, including the Chief Imam of Osogbo and the Chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria in the state, offered prayers and goodwill messages, commending the governor’s consistent public expression of faith and praying for divine guidance to help resolve the state’s challenges.
The governor’s re-election bid is significant, given the state’s history of political challenges. With the support of labor and religious leaders, Adeleke’s administration is poised to build on its achievements and continue to deliver results for the people of Osun State. As the election approaches, the governor’s confidence in his re-election bid is likely to be closely watched by observers and stakeholders in the state’s political landscape.
