I’ll select candidate who’ll protect my interests, not betray me – Wike

Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, expressed confidence that God will not allow “bad people” to prevail in Rivers State during a thank‑you visit to Bonny Island on Thursday. He stressed the importance of not generalising about a group based on the actions of a few individuals, noting that it is wrong to label an entire community as bad because of one person’s conduct. Wike praised the people of Bonny Island for showing him love and proving that they can be trusted, acknowledging that every place contains both good and bad people.

His remarks come amid ongoing impeachment proceedings against Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara by the state House of Assembly. By emphasizing that good people outnumber those who seek to cause harm, Wike sought to reassure residents that the majority will ultimately prevail and that divine providence will prevent evil from dominating. The minister’s optimism suggests confidence that the state will overcome its current challenges.

Wike’s statement also signals that the federal government is closely monitoring the situation and is committed to ensuring fair and just governance in Rivers State. As the impeachment process unfolds, residents are watching developments closely, awaiting a resolution that will shape the state’s political future.
