The Borno State Police Command has disbursed N18.38 million to families of police officers who lost their lives in the line of duty. The payment was made under the Nigeria Police Force Group Life Assurance Scheme, which provides financial support to beneficiaries of deceased officers.
A total of nine beneficiaries, comprising next-of-kin and family members, received the sum of N18,384,135.84. The officers who died were commended for their courage, dedication, and professionalism while serving the nation. The disbursement is part of the force’s broader welfare schemes aimed at supporting families of fallen personnel.
The Commissioner of Police in Borno State, CP Naziru Abdulmajid, presented the cheques to the beneficiaries on behalf of the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun. He emphasized that the welfare of officers and their families remains a top priority for the force. CP Abdulmajid advised the beneficiaries to use the funds prudently, suggesting that they be channelled towards education, healthcare, and general wellbeing of their families.
